Optimize Web Experience with Responsive Web Design

Posted on: November 25th, 2014 by Admin No Comments

We live in the digital age, but so many websites are unequipped to keep up with expanding technology. With consumers browsing Web pages on tablets, cell phones and desktop computers, web design needs to be able to keep up. That’s where Responsive Web Design (RWD) comes into play.

RWD is the concept of optimizing web experience for different technology mediums. Consumers may want to load a webpage on their mobile phones to view hours of operation, or obtain an address of a certain business. But if the website is not optimized for their small screen, the consumer will find themselves in a world of frustration. They may not be able to find the simple information they are looking for, and they may choose another business.

How Does Adaptive Design Work?

Posted on: October 16th, 2012 by Admin No Comments

As a follow-up to Seth’s latest post, I thought I might do a bit of a breakdown on a type of responsive website, called an Adaptive website, and why it’s beneficial.

First and foremost, a full-sized adaptive website will function exactly like any regular desktop website. The main difference is that the styles (and sometimes content) adjust according to the device its being viewed on. This is accomplished through the use of filters called “media queries”, which help split the views of the website into ranges. Say for instance you wanted to target a modern smartphone device. You should happen to know that most smartphones in portrait mode (straight up and down) are roughly 300 pixels in resolution. With that knowledge, you can target styling by setting a media query of max-width to 300 pixels, meaning that any stylings you put under that filter will only show up when the site is viewed at a width of 300 pixels. Normally people don’t view a website on their computer at such a small width, so the only time those styles will be seen are on a handheld device.

CROWLEY, Texas — Four more stand-alone websites, both campground and non-campground related, built by TXAD Internet Services have gone live over the last few weeks to close out a busy summer.

The campgrounds sites now live are Emerald Oaks RV Park in Monroe City, Missouri (www.emeraldoaksrvpark.com), who also received a .mobi website version, and Admiralty RV Resort in San Antonio, Texas (http://admiraltyrvresort.com/).

“While the Emerald Oaks website was brand new, Admiralty was a re-design of an older looking site they had. What we did was make their site more consistent with their overall marketing strategy,” said Seth Morris, Web Director at TXAD Internet Services. TXAD’s sister company AGS Guest Service Guides also markets and produces Admiralty’s site maps.

Do you have access to your domain name?

Posted on: March 11th, 2011 by Admin 1 Comment

Would you let your auto mechanic have the title to your car just because he knows how to fix your radiator problem? Would you give your house deed to the lawn care company just because they can keep your yard looking nice?

The answer should be an overwhelming, “No!” Yet many web designers or marketing companies own the domain name of their clients websites. The domain name could be the most important part of the website. Without it no one would be able to find you online. Now, this isn’t a problem for every website, but is something I have seen more and more of as and businesses are building or updating their websites.
